I am a visual artist, experimental filmmaker and Expressive Arts Therapist with a major in Film Production at Concordia University in Montreal, a major in painting from the National Center for the Arts in Mexico City, and a post-graduate diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from Langara College in Vancouver. My formal education includes a Fine Arts degree with a major in painting and a minor in photography, along with a number of courses including multimedia, video, ceramics and film production. My film and video pieces have screened in a number of national and international film festivals, and my photography and visual art works have shown in collective and individual exhibitions in Canada and Mexico City.

artist statement
I consider myself an artist for it is through art that I express my Self and, like a snake biting its tail, it is through art that I explore my inner Self. Making art is the means by which I justify and mystify my existence, and discover the universe around me and within me. I believe art to be a powerful instrument for shaping culture and, therefore, a vehicle for change. I believe that art can change the world — and it is in fact changing it!
My art practice is highly personal and process oriented. Some of the themes I explore through art are consciousness, the human body, identity, dreams, personal history and ancestry.

Experimentation in many different mediums has been a part of my life from a young age. As a child I painted, built wooden toys, made sculptures from plasticine, and took dance and music lessons.
This early experience with art was very influential, and as a young adult I pursued a formal education in painting and photography from the National Center for the Arts in Mexico City.
Moving slowly from representational imagery to abstract painting and collage, I integrated my visual findings into my photography, scratching and bending the negatives to create an aged and textured appearance.
